Next year meetings IMPORTANT

Our next meeting is next week!  I can't believe it is almost 2013!
I have decided that my life is like a roll of toilet paper.  The closer I get to the end, the faster it goes.  I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone (who reads this blog) a happy new year!  I hope everyone got lots of fiber, needles, yarn and chocolate for Christmas.  Oh... oops.... maybe that was my wish list!  LOL

I decided to add a couple of pictures to this post to give your eyes a place to rest between words. Tomorrow I should take the Christmas decorations down, but perhaps I will procrastinate till next year!  Eyes tired yet?  Look at that cute quilted Santa Clause card!

I hope you were determined to stay with this message because this is the important part of the post.  With the weather being all cold and snowy, I will not be driving to South Side Electric next week.  If someone would like to open, you can call and make arrangements to pick up a key from the office.  I probably will not be at the February and March meetings, so perhaps someone would like to open their home to the group for those meetings or someone could open at South Side.  Please share this information so that those who don't use the computer or check our blog will be aware of the info!

Spinning Wheels

Mr. Owen printed out the instructions for the Dodec Spinning Wheel and spent the week putting one together. It needs to be sanded and a clear coat of stain put on it. He used Tennessee Red Cedar to make the wheel. Along the way he made a couple of changes and has plans to make a couple more and then he may just be ready to sell a couple. Not bad for a first try. Okay Carol June he says he's ready to learn to spin are you ready to learn to play the banjo?
One of the changes he made was to use a couple of the old wheels off my quilting machine when I replaced all my wheels with new ones. He also used longer bolts than were called for in the plans.

Saturday To Do List

It's scary to learn there are now cards out there about you and your sewing room. So in order to prove that fabric is not the only thing in my sewing room I purchased this book and started making some snowflakes .

Top Down Sweaters

Someone last night ( I think it was Lyn) said they were thinking about or wanted to order the Book Top Down Sweaters. I have that book by Ann Budd and would be willing to let you look at it so you can see if you really want to order it or not. This is the book I have so email me if this is what you were thinking about.
We had a good meeting last night in spite of the weather.  We decided to place an order to Smiley yarn.  I can do the order if everyone wants to send me a list of what they want.  I will place the order on the 14th so that we can take advantage of the  sale of the alpaca.

WE ARE NOT MEETING AT SOUTH SIDE THIS WEEK!

IF ANYONE WANTS TO VOLUNTEER TO HOST THIS MONTHS MEETING PLEASE LET US KNOW.  IT IS NOW ONLY 4 DAYS AWAY AND THE ROOM AT SOUTHSIDE ELECTRIC HAS ALREADY BEEN RESERVED BY ANOTHER GROUP.  I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO MAKE THE DRIVE AND THEN FIND OUT AT THE LAST MINUTE THAT WE ARE NOT MEETING THERE.  SHOULD WE CANCEL THIS MONTH?  WHAT DO YOU THINK?

WE ARE NOT MEETING AT SOUTHSIDE!!!

WE ARE NOT MEETING AT THE SOUTHSIDE ROOM THIS MONTH!!!            I hope it is unanimous, because we are meeting the second Thursday of November instead of tonight!  Carol June can't come either night, but hopefully the majority of our group can be there next Thursday night.  We have to find another place to meet!  There is already a scheduled event for the room at southside electric.  I will email this info to Lyn, but wanted to post here also, just in case.

Some kind of a baby thing......

I posted this on my blog also and I'm wondering what it is called.  It is about 18" square, made from minkie and has loops to hold the garanimal links.  You can then attach it to a high chair, car seat, etc. and link little toys to the loops.  It's quite nice for something that has no name.  Maybe you know what to call it... let me know.  I made it to go with the sweater and socks, and it is sooooo soft!!!

Smiley's yarn

Our yarn came today!!!  Carol June and I ordered together from Smiley's yarn and it's here!!!

The  3 variegated yarns belong to Carol and it will be fun to see the finished socks!  They are 90% superwash Merino wool and 10% nylon.

This is my Aran Marl yarn and I am thrilled with it!  I was afraid it wouldn't be soft.  I got enough to make a sweater and thought that I could just wear something under it if it didn't feel nice next to my skin.  It is totally soft and at $1.49 a skein I feel like a bandit!!!
This blue/purple is a dk weight yarn that is so much prettier than what it looked like in the picture when I was ordering it.  I know I had a reason for ordering it, but now I can't remember.  Oh well.............

I finished the baby sweater and one sock!

The sweater and one sock is finished and the other sock is well on it's way to being finished!  I love this pattern!!!  It was sooooo fun to make!

I thought ya'all might like to see a bit more of Gypsy's handiwork.  I should learn not to turn my back on her.
Hello,  It is wonderful to see that they new blog is up and working.  There were several that we missed at the meeting last week.  Congrats to the new grandmother.  We were all disappointed that you were not there to show us your new wheel but we can understand.  Get some rest and we look forward to seeing you next month.  The fiber came in and is wonderful.  I am looking to order again from Sheep Shed Studio if anyone is interested in ordering with me let me know.  I have decided I need some more purple. :)

SO MUCH TROUBLE

Gypsy is in sooooo much trouble. I pulled my knitting out and lay it by my side for just a minute while I was reading something. I was just getting ready to cast on. This is what she did to my cable.
This is my color block vest.  It is currently on the floor for the cats to sleep on.  I sewed it up and hated it.  Lyn says I have to finish it before I can really know if I hate it but for right now it is a cat bed.
